You will:
Sessions are 100% hands-on, no lengthy slide packs to fall asleep to; just you, your laptop, and our enthusiasm for building your skills. As a participant you will quickly feel like you are in a ‘safe environment,’ where there is no such thing as a dumb question about Excel or transaction specifics.
For in-house courses, you will be among colleagues, making the environment even more productive and light-hearted.
With over 20 years of experience training thousands of participants globally, across a wide spectrum of companies and individual backgrounds, Nick is well-versed in managing groups with mixed abilities. This is the reason we cap Vector courses at 6 participants; our mission is to ensure that everyone has a stellar experience – in cases when you have more people, we will provide another Principal which will take the session to another level!
A training day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 3pm, or when everyone reaches the intended stage and is satisfied. If it takes longer, no problem. We recommend a course duration of 1.5 days, with the second day ending at midday. This approach ensures participants are not away from their day-to-day responsibilities for multiple full days. We know that deals don’t stop for training, and practical learning deteriorates beyond this time in front of a laptop.
You arrive with your laptop and a file sent around a few days before; you don’t need to prepare or do any pre-work just come prepared to learn, ask questions, ask for help and soak it in. If you need to stay in touch with your deal teams, we get it – just try and balance it as much as you can.
Acknowledgment – We tailor our approach to match your abilities and adjust the pace as needed. It’s better to fully understand 90% than to only grasp 50% of everything.
Patience – Not everyone ‘gets it’ immediately. If something isn’t clear, we’ll work on it until it is.
Respect for your involvement – Not everyone attending the course is a “budding modeller.’ We understand and accommodate the level of expertise your role requires, adapting the level of detail accordingly. We have senior participants simply come and absorb it to know what their teams should be doing. If you are at the top end of the session, we will make sure you are thinking ahead and keep you on your toes.
Engagement – We don’t stand at the front and ‘tell you how it is.’ Instead, we work around the room, like a yoga instructor (!) making small, polite adjustments to ensure you get the best experience.
Sharing – We hold nothing back. In addition to the material covered, we share real-world examples of transactions where “if you do this, you will get this result.” We’ll also discuss the mistakes we’ve made and how we’ve ensured they won’t happen again.
